ELECTROLYSIS
In 1875, Charles E. Michel, M.D. discovered a highly effective way to permanently remove unwanted hair by using a needle attached to a dry cell battery. Since its discovery in 1875, modifications and refinements have been made to what we now call electrology.
Electrolysis has been around since 1869 when it was invented by Charles E. Michel. The true pioneers of electrolysis were people like Henri St. Pierre, Arthur Hinkel and Walter and Helen Kunze. St. Pierre and his family started in the early 1890', Hinkel started in 1938 when he invented the blend technique (combining both AC and DC currents / electrolysis and thermolysis) and the Kunze's started in 1948. Helen worked as an electrologist until she was 80 years old.
There are three modalities that can be used to permanently remove hair.
Thermolysis (short wave, high frequency or flash )
— Creates a friction, causing heat which destroys the hair growth cells.
Galvanic (electrolysis)
—Creates a chemical reaction within the follicle and destroys the follicles chemically.
Blend
— It uses both the thermolysis and galvanic currents simultaneously.
As long as the electrologist is using a Food & Drug Administration (FDA) approved machine that employs a probe, the hair can be permanently removed.
We select the appropriate type of current for the clients after analyzing the skin, texture, moisture gradient, hair type, and client sensitivity.
